Taung is a beautiful dam, it is very clear and has deep sections with overhanging cliffs. The water level is currently lower than it normally is, and this allowed Jeremy Grace and I to walk the cliffs and look for cruising yellows.
Most of the smallmouth and largemouth yellows caught were taken on foam hoppers and Dave’s hoppers. We fished to a boiling pot of rising fish one evening, and it was quite unbelievable to see yellows attacking an Elk hair caddis in almost complete darkness.
The group camped on the banks of the dam and all in all a very enjoyable weekend with Agostino once again showing off his special culinary skills. The weekend would have been slightly better if I had remembered to bring my sleeping bag along!
